Hola, I'm Ana Lisa.
An independent tutor, researcher, curator and consultant
on Biomaterials and Biodesign. I teach university students
and professional makers how to transform organic waste
or grow organisms into experimental materials and things.
I primarily work online but have spent many years teaching
at Design Academy Eindhoven, where I developed
a methodology and assembled a Biomaterials Archive
to inspire sustainability and autarchy.

Hola, I’m Ana Lisa.
I’m an independent researcher, educator, curator, consultant and archive carer,
focused on Biomaterials Design & Biodesign.
I design spaces to learn, experiment, research, exchange, grow, enjoy, make sense,
and experience awe.
I guide university students and professionals in the creative fields who want to make new materials and things by recycling organic waste or growing organisms.
I offer curated online workshops, webinars, external mentorships, personal education, project consultations custom-made for each client’s needs.
My background spans over 20 years in Sustainable Design and 7 years
teaching in Academic and non-Academic contexts, but primarily dedicated
to my course at Design Academy Eindhoven in The Netherlands,
where I have guided over 300 projects, produced public exhibitions with my students, opened a BioLab and collaborated with experts in different niches.
This led me to develop my own methodology and to assemble a Biomaterials Archive, that seeks to inspire sustainability and autarchy.
I hold an MA in Design Curating and Writing from Design Academy Eindhoven,
and a BA in Eco-Design from Goldsmiths in London.

DESIGN ACADEMY EINDHOVEN - BA TUTOR (2017-22) Make Material Sense was a 6-month course on biomaterials design, biodesign, D-I-Y process and cognition, for 2nd year BA students from all departments.
CIRCULAR BIO-BASED BUILDING - CONSULTANT (2020) The Exploded View by Company New Heroes/Bio-based Creation featured biomaterial walls made by renowned biodesigners, my students and guest tutors.

BIOMATERIALS ARCHIVE: SAMPLES & OTHER STORIES - TUTOR / CURATOR (2019) Exhibition made with my students at Dutch Design Week.
PRECIOUS PLASTIC BEYOND PLASTIC - COLLABORATION (2019) Workshop, R&D and production of biomaterial samples in collaboration with Dave Hakken's project.
MA ECOLOGY FUTURES - TUTOR I helped initiate the first MA on BioArt in NL, and held two 6-month courses, one for recycling waste and the other for growing organisms for art.
FLOATING UNIVERSITY BERLIN - TUTOR (2019) I run a 3-days workshop to make biomaterials from local bio-resources at the Climate Care festival

HUMAN AND MACHINE - STUDENT, CURATOR, TUTOR (2017) MA Design Curating and Writing Graduation Project about a new Bachelor department for students to make D-I-Y machines to make things. I designed the 4-year program, curated exhibitions and held it --unofficially.

I’m an independent Biomaterials Design & Biodesign University Professor and Consultant, and as such,
I conduct R&D, design educational programs, advise students, institutions and brands, and care for an Archive.
My background spans over 20 years through multiple disciplines but only one subject of study, Sustainable Design (then known as Eco-Design), and I focused on Biodesign (short for Biodegradable Design).
Born in Buenos Aires in 1977, I have lived in London through my 20s, was a nomad photojournalist through my 30s, and most recently spent another cycle in The Netherlands immersed in Academia.
Argentina-born, British-Citizen, Dutch Resident.
I have held various teaching positions but primarily dedicated to my course at Design Academy Eindhoven, where I have guided over 300 projects, produced public exhibitions with my students, opened the school’s first BioLab and collaborated with experts in different niches.
